This new program targets the gender gap that exists globally in STEM based professions. Whether coding, tinkering, building, or problem-solving, our state-of-the-art resources combined with an emphasis on project-based learning allows girls to develop fundamental and technical skills in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, as well as essential 21st century skills such as creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Girls in STEM is facilitated by a team of all-female educators in the Ciongoli Center for Innovation.
Girls in STEM Camp – Entering Grades 4-7
Benefits of STEM for Girls
Because of the stereotype that girls are bad at science and math, they may grow to dislike math and science and develop a lack of interest towards them. Studies show that girls who are involved in STEM at an early age girls are more likely to think positively about math and science and not lose interest in them.
Our hope is that girls in this program will:
- Gain Confidence in their STEM Skills and Abilities
- Feel More Comfortable Working with Computers and Technology
- Develop Better Problem-solving Skills
- Benefit from the role modeling of the all-female STEM staff.
- Have FUN!
