Upper Camp Division Director

Position Summary:
The Upper Camp Director is a seasoned supervisor and educator who provides leadership and mentoring to the division staff, and develops a relationship with the staff, campers, and camper families to ensure a safe, fun, and enriching experience in all aspects of camp. The Upper Camp Director is the direct supervisor of the counselor staff in the Upper Camp Division.
This is a seasonal position, running from June 23 – August 15.
Responsibilities:
- Set vision for the Upper Camp program.
- Direct, train, and coach staff in the Upper Camp division.
- Serve on senior camp leadership team including developing training for all staff and leading Upper
Camp staff training before and during camp season. - Assure appropriate staffing of groups and Upper Camp activities.
- Design and lead Upper Camp initiatives and events working with the senior leadership team.
- Develop and implement strategies to help campers and counselors be successful at camp.
- Meet weekly with division staff for planning and goal setting.
- Conduct formal evaluations of staff in assigned division mid-season and the end of the season.
- Regularly conduct informal evaluations of staff in assigned division.
- Regularly observe, communicate, and work with groups and provide necessary instruction to
campers and staff. - Proactively communicate with parents about successes and concerns regarding their child.
- Coordinate with Program Director to plan and implement Upper Camp Choice Program each week
and day. - Send out weekly division communication to families.
Miscellaneous - Uphold all policies and philosophies of Fessenden Day Camp and further the mission of the camp.
- Set a good example for staff and campers in all areas, including but not limited to accountability,
fairness, organization, cleanliness, punctuality, following the rules, and sportsmanship. - Coordinate and assist in leading camp-wide initiatives and events with director team.
- Discuss with director any concerns about staff and evaluate future employment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience as an administrator in a camp or supervisory position working with children, specializing in

This is a seasonal position, running from June 23 – August 15.
Responsibilities:
- Administer a safe, organized, meaningful, enriching, and fun Archery program.
- Uphold all policies and philosophies of the Fessenden Day Camp.
- Teach staff their responsibilities in your activity area during staff training and throughout the season.
- Guide campers and CITs in participating successfully, safely, and appropriately in all aspects of Archery.
- Teach and monitor proper use of Archery equipment.
- Formulate, plan, and lead age appropriate activities for each group.
- Set a good example for campers and coworkers in all areas, including but not limited to accountability,
fairness, organization, cleanliness, punctuality, following the rules, and sportsmanship. - Conduct initial and end-of-season inventory, and store equipment for protection and safety.

Position Summary:
Our camp goal is that every camper leaves us a better, safer swimmer and more confident individual. This position is part of the Aquatic Staff team involved in all aquatic activities including swim lessons, recreational swim, and pool events. This position spends about half of the day teaching swimming and the other half lifeguarding, and ensures all swim activities are safe, positive, enriching, and fun in an inclusive atmosphere. Instructors are responsible for leading safe, skills based, and fun swim lessons for groups of 4-10 campers depending on age and swim ability.
This is a seasonal position, running from June 23 – August 15. (Additional weeks in June and August can be contracted for interested parties)
Responsibilities:
- Using the Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program, teach safe, fun, and meaningful swimming lessons.
- Evaluate campers in your swim lessons and complete necessary paperwork for records and families.
- Uphold all policies and philosophies of the Fessenden Day Camp.
- Follow and uphold all state and local health and safety regulations and guidelines and those set by the Camp.
- Work with various age and skill levels providing appropriate instruction and behavioral management.
- Be part of regular maintenance, cleaning, and check of pool areas and equipment according to health and safety

Seasonal
General Group Counselor is active, energetic, creative, and caring, and enjoys working with children in a team atmosphere with other counselors and staff. A Senior Counselor is responsible for leading a group of approximately 12-18 campers in a safe, inclusive, positive, enriching, and fun way. A Counselor is responsible for the emotional and physical safety of individual campers in the group, and for healthy group dynamics. This position leads some activities for their group and travels with their group to activities led by Specialists where this position assists and participates.
The position is for the full eight-week season (June 23th-August 15th) including events and staff training dates the week before camp starts. Additional working weeks in June and August can be contracted. This is a seasonal position.

Candidates must be available to work the full 2 week season and to attend staff training dates before camp starts between June 9-June 20. Additional working weeks and hours in the summer can be contracted. This is a seasonal position.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Training/certification and/or experience in the sport.
- Demonstrated experience playing and coaching the sport and/or working with and leading children
