Rising Star Musical Theater Camp

Rising Star Musical Theater Camp

Entering Grades 2-4

Campers build a strong foundation in acting, singing and dance. Over the course of just two weeks, Rising Stars create a full theatrical production complete with set, lights, microphones and more! The selected shows strengthen speech, memory, motor skills and develop creativity. These skills aid performers on and off the stage, over the summer and into the school year.

Something Rotten! Jr.

Welcome to the outrageous comedy, Something Rotten. Set in the 1590s, two playwrights are stuck in the shadow of the great William Shakespeare. In an effort to outdo him, they set out to write the world’s very first musical. Something Rotten features songs, dances and wacky, over-the-top characters, each with their own moment to shine.

Meet the Theater Staff

Todd Morse Director of Theater Arts 3 Years at Fessenden

This will be Todd Morse’s third year running our Theater Program. Todd joined Fessenden Summer Camps having created multiple theater programs around the area. Beaver Off-Broadway in Chestnut Hill, LINX Theater in Wellesley and Walnut Hill School for the Arts Community Theater Academy in Natick were all created with his direct leadership and with his unique methodology. He started acting at St. John’s Preparatory School in Danvers and was the youngest student director in Boston College’s history. Students who have trained with Mr. Morse study at premiere acting schools including NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, but Mr. Morse’s philosophy is focused on how the arts aid every performer, no matter what path they choose. His focus is always on generating confidence and creativity in young people.

Alicia Karunaratne Performance Arts Specialist 3 Years at Fessenden

This is Alicia’s 3rd summer at Fessenden and her first year as our Performance Arts Specialist.  For the past two summers she was one of Fessenden’s Theater Camp counselors.  Alicia works at Angier Elementary this year, where she often runs into many of her campers from the summer. Alicia is in her final year of a Masters Program for Moderate Disabilities at Lasell University.  She loves to sing, do theater (whether that’s acting or helping put on shows), and loves a good detective show!

My hobbies are.

I love drawing, singing, playing video games, and watching shows when I have down time!

What I love about Fessenden is..

I love getting to interact with campers and watch them grow and thrive!
