At our Makerspace Camp, campers are exposed to hands-on problem solving through a great range of tools, machines, technology, possibilities, and instructor encouragement. They gain familiarity with maker concepts such as programming, robotics, engineering, multimedia, and design. Campers who already have knowledge in these areas can advance to the next level by developing unique solutions to open-ended challenges.
Each camper will work through the processes of design and production under the guidance of experienced instructors in the Ciongoli Center for Innovation. By gaining exposure to cornerstone principles in 21st century craftsmanship, campers can fluidly move from creating a digital prototype to designing a project using 3D printers, laser cutters, and an array of tools and materials. Campers are encouraged to utilize their critical thinking skills, while also collaborating on projects with other campers who have similar interests. By working together, campers can answer important questions, solve problems, or invent something entirely new.
Makerspace Themes:
July 24-28 Cosplay and Costume/Prop Design and Fabrication
Makers will design and build costumes and accompanying props using a variety of materials, while learning and using various tools in the CCI makerspace. Starting with 2D and 3D design, campers will learn skills that will allow them to laser cut and 3D print elements of their work. Additional skills in soldering, sewing, painting, and using hand tools will help makers round out their projects! At the end of the week, campers will have something self-designed and self-created to wear and use! Nothing like preparing for Halloween early!
Other weeks currently TBD!!
We strive to have a balance of ages, and a mix of boys and girls, in our Makerspace Camp weeks.
